What Should I Do After YKS?

"The exam is over, but it feels like something is still not over..."

You left behind a long marathon. Countless mock exams, late nights of revision, maybe tears... And now? Silence.

When YKS is over, we all feel a bit empty. We don't know what to do. But this period is actually a transition period where you will make one of the most precious decisions of your life. Here are a few suggestions to make this process healthier and more conscious:

🧘‍♀️ 1. Take Some Rest, Allow Yourself

Don't put yourself under the pressure of "I have to make a list of preferences right after the exam". Breathe first, watch a movie, take a walk, read a book. Resting your mind allows you to make your next decisions in a healthier way.

📆 2. Don't Miss Calendars

Make sure you take note of ÖSYM's dates regarding the preference process. The preference period is short but critical. Preparing in advance is always an advantage.
Tip: You can also get one-to-one support from Üsküdar University's preference counseling unit.

🗺️ 3. Research, Travel, Observe

Researching universities on the internet only goes so far. If you have the opportunity, see the campuses on site. Talk to the students. Ask yourself, "How would I feel if I study there?"
👉 Üsküdar University campuses are waiting for you with promotion days throughout the summer. Maybe this will make your decision easier.

💬 4. Ask Yourself When Deciding on a Major:

  • Does this field excite me?

  • What do I want to do when I graduate?

  • Will this department only give me a diploma or will it also give me a direction?

Sometimes it is not the score, but the direction that is decisive. Pay attention to how much the department you prefer overlaps with the one you dream of.

🎒 5. Preference is Not Just Ranking

Don't ask "how many thousandths am I?", ask "what is the best university and environment for me with this ranking?". Remember, not only the department but also the environment the university offers is very important.

💚 Last Word:

You are not alone in this process. We have all been through this path in one way or another. No matter what happens, the decision you make should add value to your life. Keep getting to know yourself, keep researching and keep daring.

And who knows... Maybe we will see you on campus in Üsküdar one day. ☺️
