A Meaningful Gathering with Rare Individuals Living with ALS
In collaboration with the ALS-MNH Association, the Üsküdar University Rare Diseases Club (ÜÜRARE) came together with individuals diagnosed with ALS and held an awareness event focused on social interaction and psychosocial support.
On February 11, 2026, the Üsküdar University Rare Diseases Club (ÜÜRARE) carried out a meaningful social responsibility event at the ALS-MNH Association. Meeting with individuals diagnosed with ALS, club members took part in a volunteering activity grounded in empathy and solidarity. 20 students attended the event.
As part of the program, motivating coloring activities were carried out to support patients’ social interaction and strengthen their psychosocial well-being. Communicating one-on-one, participants had the opportunity to hear about the effects of ALS on daily life from the patients’ own experiences.
The event aimed not only to raise awareness but also to support patients emotionally and socially. Volunteer students had the opportunity to observe more closely the challenges faced by people living with rare diseases, while also contributing to greater public sensitivity.
Held in a warm and meaningful atmosphere, the gathering helped build a strong bridge of communication between students and individuals with ALS. ÜÜRARE aims to continue its awareness efforts on rare diseases.
