An Analytical Look at Atatürk’s Leadership from the History Club
At the conference organized by Üsküdar University History Club, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s understanding of leadership was discussed in comparison with world leaders.
The conference titled “World Leaders and Atatürk: Ludwig’s Leader Comparison Results,” organized by Üsküdar University History Club, was held on October 6, 2025, at the Sokrates Hall. At the event, which attracted great interest from students, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s understanding of leadership was evaluated from a historical and analytical perspective.
Prof. Dr. Hadiye Yılmaz Odabaşı, who attended the conference as a speaker, addressed Atatürk’s leadership qualities not only through historical events but also through comparative analyses with world leaders. The assessments of Atatürk’s crisis management, foresight, influence on the process of social transformation and vision of modernization particularly drew the students’ attention.
It was explained that the study examined at the event evaluated Atatürk’s leadership model by comparing it with various world leaders and that these analyses were interpreted within the framework of Ludwig’s leadership research. Throughout the conference, not only was historical information shared, but topics such as the impact of the concept of leadership on societies, decision-making processes and the role of the individual in historical transformations were also discussed.
Held on the occasion of the anniversary of Atatürk’s death, the event was not merely a commemoration program for students; it also created an intellectual environment that offered an opportunity to evaluate the concept of leadership from an academic perspective. Throughout the event, participants had the chance both to listen to historical analyses and to exchange ideas by asking questions on the subject.
While emphasizing the importance of approaching historical events from different perspectives, the conference held by the History Club once again showed that Atatürk’s understanding of leadership is still at the center of academic studies today.
