The Perfusion Club, one of Üsküdar University’s societies raising awareness in the field of health, brought a critical issue closely related to public health to the agenda. Held on March 05, 2026 at the NP Health Campus, the seminar was organized to break down prejudices about organ donation and to share accurate information with the healthcare professionals of the future.
The event’s guest speaker, Güzide Özdemir, gave a comprehensive presentation on the legal, ethical and medical processes of organ donation. In the session held on March 05, 2026, organ transplant waiting lists in Türkiye, how transplantation processes work and the miraculous changes organ donation can make in a person’s life were explained with examples. The importance of students, especially those studying health sciences, serving as ambassadors who will pass this awareness on to society was emphasized.
At the seminar, attended by approximately 75 students, common misconceptions about organ donation in society and the difficulties faced by patients awaiting transplants were examined closely. After the presentation, Perfusion Club members and participants put their questions to the expert and learned about the technical and operational details of the donation process.
Club officials stated that raising awareness among prospective perfusionists and other health students about organ transplantation processes, which they will frequently encounter in their professional lives, is of great importance for their professional development. While increasing participants’ sensitivity toward organ donation, the gathering on March 05, 2026 brought the motto "Every donation is a new life" to the campus atmosphere.
At the end of the program, Güzide Özdemir was thanked for her contributions, followed by a group photo. Carried out under the Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports (HCS), this high-quality informative activity once again affirmed Üsküdar University’s educational vision of raising sensitive individuals who take a solution-oriented approach to social problems.
