"My Success" Event Special for Disability Week at Üsküdar University attracted great attention
Üsküdar University hosted the "My Success" event on December 6, 2024 within the scope of December 3-9 Disability Week. The event, organized in cooperation with the Disabled Student Unit of the Department of Health, Culture and Sports and the Youth Club, was held at the Emir Nebi-1 Conference Hall of the University's Çarşı Campus. The organization, which attracted approximately 250 participants, was remembered for its meaningful messages and inspiring moments.
The program started with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, followed by the opening speech of Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zelka, Advisor to the Rector of Üsküdar University. Prof. Dr. Zelka gave a meaningful speech on the place of disabled individuals in society and the importance of their success. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zelka stated that they once again observed in this event that disabled individuals can achieve their dreams with their perseverance and determination, and expressed his thanks to all participants and the organization team for their contribution to raising awareness.
Paralympic National Athletes took the stage with their inspiring speeches
Paralympic national athletes Zeynep Acet and Nurşah Usta took the stage at the event and shared their sporting life struggles and success stories with the participants.
Zeynep Acet emphasized the transformative effect of sports on her life and shared her pride with the two gold medals she won at the Paralympic Games and the European Championships. Acet, who has experience in Rio 2016 Paralympic Summer Games and many other international competitions, has many medals in this field. Zeynep Acet received great applause with her words "No obstacle in life can stand in front of our dreams".
Nurşah Usta shared her journey to world championship. Paralympic National Athlete Nurşah Usta, who returned from the World Championships in London 2017 with a gold medal, addressed young people. "Success is not only about awards; it is the pride we feel when we achieve our dreams," said Usta.
University Students Shared Their Stories
After the Paralympic National Athletes, the disabled students of our university also took the stage at the event. Ibrahim, Ela and Onur's speeches created both emotional moments and social awareness.
- İbrahim talked about his adaptation process at the university and his experiences of overcoming social prejudices.
- Ela emphasized the importance of achieving success with the support of friends and academics.
- Onur stated that obstacles are only visible and that everything is possible with faith and support.
Unforgettable Performance by the Unimpeded Choir
After the speeches, the Üsküdar Municipality Unimpaired Choir took the stage and presented an unforgettable musical feast to the audience. The choir performed a variety of works in different genres, which were highly appreciated and created a pleasant atmosphere in the hall.
A meaningful closing ceremony was organized
At the end of the program, the speakers were presented with sapling donation certificates, certificates of appreciation and gifts. These meaningful moments marked the closing of the program in the memories of everyone in the hall. The event continued with a meeting where participants had the opportunity to chat and share their experiences in a social atmosphere. People with disabilities and other participants had the opportunity to come together in this area to chat and share their experiences of the event.
