At the conference organized by the Üsküdar University History Club on December 18, 2025, the teachings of Ibn Arabi and Mawlana Jalal al-Din Rumi, two giants of the history of Islamic thought, were discussed. At the event, featuring a valuable presentation by Dr. Kerim Güç, participants journeyed to the heart of spirituality while the transmission of consciousness and the shared universe of these two great thinkers were examined closely.
The History Club, Üsküdar University’s society focusing on cultural heritage and the history of thought, hosted a meaningful event shedding light on the depths of the spiritual world. The conference titled "Ibn Arabi – Rumi: The Heart of Spirituality", held on December 18, 2025, opened the doors of ancient wisdom to students.
The guest speaker of the event, organized in partnership with the Institute of Sufi Studies, Dr. Kerim Güç, presented the similarities and differences between the intellectual worlds of Ibn Arabi and Rumi with academic rigor. Gathering in room GAB - B1 - 13 on December 18, 2025, participants followed with interest the processes by which spiritual consciousness has been transmitted from the dusty pages of history to the present day.
At the conference, attended by approximately 60 students, Dr. Kerim Güç addressed the guidance both thinkers offer on the journey toward the perfect human (insan-ı kâmil) and emphasized the role of love and wisdom in social harmony. The points where Ibn Arabi’s philosophy of existence intersects with Rumi’s love-centered teachings enriched the students’ historical and spiritual perspectives.
History Club officials stated that they aim to bring the great heritage of the past together with the young minds of modern times. The gathering on December 18, 2025 was regarded not merely as a transfer of knowledge but also as a process of self-awareness regarding the participants’ inner worlds. The interactive format of the conference allowed students to find answers to their questions about the history of Sufism.

At the end of the program, Dr. Kerim Güç was thanked for his presentation, and commemorative photos were taken. Carried out with the support of the Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports (HCS), this high-quality academic activity once again affirmed Üsküdar University’s multifaceted approach to education and the importance it places on deep-rooted values.
