“1st National Undergraduate Student Symposium” by the History Club
At the symposium organized by the History Club, students and academics came together around the theme of science and technology and offered interdisciplinary perspectives.
The “1st National Undergraduate Student Symposium,” organized by the Üsküdar University History Club, was held on March 24–25, 2026, at the Nermin Tarhan Conference Hall. Organized around the theme of science and technology, the symposium brought together students and academics from different universities on the same platform, paving the way for academic exchange and the sharing of ideas.
At the event, held with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the relationship between history, science, and technology was addressed from multiple perspectives. Throughout the two-day symposium, students had the opportunity to present the academic papers they had prepared, while expert academics shared their knowledge and experience with participants.
Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Kaynak, Prof. Dr. Hadiye Yılmaz, Dr. Meliha Çerçinli, Dursun Çaylı, and Adem Büyükyiğit, who took part in the program as speakers, offered their assessments of the impact of scientific developments throughout history and the role of technology in social transformation.
Throughout the symposium, students had the opportunity not only to gain experience in academic presentation but also to interact with participants from different disciplines. Presentations on the history of science, technological transformation, social change, and methods of historical analysis were followed with particular interest. Participants had the opportunity to consider that the discipline of history is not limited to studying the past but also plays an important role in making sense of today’s technological developments.
At the event, which brought together more than 150 participants, Q&A sessions and academic exchanges created an interactive environment. Students had the opportunity to communicate directly with experts in their fields and learn about academic career paths and research methods.
The “1st National Undergraduate Student Symposium,” held by the History Club, stood out as one of the important events that contributed to students’ academic output, supported scientific thinking, and strengthened interdisciplinary interaction.
