360-Degree Safety Awareness: The Seat Belt Simulator Came to Çarşı Campus

With the seat belt simulator set up as part of the "Safe Living in Traffic" event, the Scenario-Based Occupational Health and Safety Club demonstrated the vital importance of seat belts to students through hands-on experience.

The Üsküdar University Scenario-Based Occupational Health and Safety Club held a striking event to raise awareness of traffic safety. The "Safe Living in Traffic – Seat Belt Simulator" event, held at Çarşı Campus on December 18, 2025, attracted great interest from students and staff. In the program, organized as hands-on training, participants experienced firsthand the life-saving effect of simple precautions in traffic.

The special simulation vehicle set up for the event realistically showed participants the effects of being thrown around and rolling over inside a vehicle during a crash, even at low speeds. In the training sessions led by Özgür Şener, the stark differences between wearing and not wearing a seat belt were demonstrated concretely. Around 70 participants had the opportunity to test the physical dynamics of safe driving using the simulator.

At this event, traffic safety, one of the most critical everyday applications of Occupational Health and Safety principles, was presented not merely as theoretical knowledge but as something to be turned into a life habit. In his briefings before and after the simulation, Özgür Şener explained the protective effect of seat belts for both drivers and passengers in a crash, drawing on scientific data and field experience.

Commenting after the simulation experience, students said they had never before realized so strikingly the risks of not wearing a seat belt. Reinforcing the risk analysis and protection methods learned in theoretical courses with field practice, the event raised deep awareness among participants. The importance of such "learning by experience" models for spreading a culture of safe living across the campus was emphasized once again.

At the end of the program, the importance of individual responsibility in preventing injuries and deaths in traffic accidents was underlined. Scenario-Based Occupational Health and Safety Club officials stated that through similar awareness projects they will continue to help Üsküdar University students become individuals who are sensitive to and well-equipped for social issues. The event will be remembered as a meaningful step toward a safer tomorrow.
