A Bridge Between Languages: Collective Text Analysis and Translation Workshop with the Translation Club
At the workshop organized by the Üsküdar University Translation Club, students experienced the excitement of analyzing an English work with shared ideas and bringing it into Turkish.
The Üsküdar University Translation Club brought together students interested in language and translation for a productive workshop where theoretical knowledge was put into practice. Held on November 28, 2025 at the South Campus, the "Translation Workshop" once again demonstrated that translation is not merely the transfer of words but an art of in-depth text analysis and of building cultural bridges.
At the event held in classroom E Block 01, participants began a comprehensive examination of a selected English text. Discussions on the context of the text, the author's style, and the nuances that must be preserved when rendering it into the target language highlighted the intellectual dimension of translation. The workshop allowed students to test their language proficiency and to see translation techniques in practice.

In the session, which adopted a collective production process, each participant presented original ideas on analyzing the text. Following an exchange of views on sentence structures and word choices, the Turkish translation of the work was produced by mutual agreement. This group work developed students' ability to work in harmony as a team while also demonstrating how different perspectives improve translation quality.
Held with a small, boutique group of participants, the workshop enabled each student to take an active part in the process and focus on the translation strategies they were curious about. By overcoming the challenges encountered during the text analysis stage together, Translation Club members gained valuable insights into the dynamics of the professional translation world. Beyond language learning, the event offered a discipline of literary and technical analysis.

At the end of the program, the workshop was successfully completed with a final read-through of the Turkish text produced. Translation Club officials announced that practice-oriented workshops of this kind, which will enhance students' professional competencies, will continue with different types of texts. Supporting Üsküdar University's multicultural educational vision, this gathering was an inspiring experience for the translators of the future.
