A Journey of Ideas with Mustafa Kutlu: An In-Depth Analysis of "Ya Tahammül Ya Sefer"

At the "Book Analysis" event held on December 06, 2025, the Üsküdar University Future of Kindness Club examined "Ya Tahammül Ya Sefer" (Either Endure or Depart), a work by Mustafa Kutlu, a master of Turkish literature. At this special online gathering, the social messages of the work and its questioning of individual existence were examined in depth through participants’ interactive comments.

The Üsküdar University Future of Kindness Club made a meaningful start to its training series, organized to enrich students’ intellectual world and help them get to know the landmark works of Turkish literature more closely. At the "Book Analysis 1" event, held on a digital platform on December 06, 2025, Mustafa Kutlu’s cult work "Ya Tahammül Ya Sefer", which questions the concepts of modernization, commitment to a cause and loyalty, was put under the microscope.

At the online gathering, comprehensive assessments were made of the work’s main themes: tradition, change and the inner journey of a person devoted to a cause. In this session on December 06, 2025, with the active participation of club members, the effects of social transformation on individuals and the moral questions raised by modern times were discussed interactively through Kutlu’s characters.

In the event, which proceeded in a workshop format, participants shared their thoughts guided by questions prepared about the book and had the opportunity to decode the work’s subtexts. Comments on Mustafa Kutlu’s distinctive style and the depth of his storytelling contributed to participants’ critical reading skills, while ideas were exchanged on what the concepts of "tahammül" (endurance) and "sefer" (departure) mean for today’s youth.

Going beyond merely summarizing a book, this education-focused analysis program aimed to enrich participants’ cultural knowledge and develop social awareness through literary texts. Held in a boutique atmosphere on December 06, 2025, this first session enabled an in-depth analysis of the perspectives the book offers. Such intellectual activities carried out under the Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports (HCS) aim to strengthen students’ cultural grounding as well as their academic development.

At the end of the program, Future of Kindness Club officials stated that the book analyses, organized to promote a culture of reading and build intellectual discipline, will continue with different authors in the rest of the series. Contributing to Üsküdar University’s intellectual climate, the gathering came to an end by opening new windows in participants’ minds.
