A Journey Through Pages in the Footsteps of History and Culture: ÜÜ History and Culture Club Book Analysis Event
At the "Book Analysis" event organized by the Üsküdar University History and Culture Club on December 26, 2025, a wide range of works spanning from antiquity to contemporary literature was examined. At the gathering held at the South Campus, students decoded the historical and cultural codes of the works they had read in an interactive session.
The History and Culture Club, one of Üsküdar University’s societies working to enrich cultural knowledge, carried out a productive activity blending students’ reading habits with academic discipline. Held on December 26, 2025 in classroom 202 of South Campus Block A, the event proved once again that books are not merely texts but fields of ideas.
As part of the event, club members examined a wide variety of works, from Cato’s "On Agriculture," one of the important texts of Ancient Rome, to Ahmet Ümit’s modern crime novel "Yırtıcı Kuşlar Zamanı" (Time of the Birds of Prey) and Sadullah Gülten’s "Üçler Yediler Kırklar", which focuses on folk culture and the world of belief. In the sessions held on December 26, 2025, each student gave a comprehensive presentation on the main idea, historical context and personal assessment of the work they had chosen.
At the analysis event, held with a small group of participants, the Q&A section following the presentations took the exchange of ideas to the highest level. Participants created an interactive learning environment by discussing the place of the featured works in our cultural heritage and their reflections in today’s world. This multidimensional analysis process also directly contributed to the development of the students’ critical thinking and public speaking skills.
The History and Culture Club management emphasized that analyzing the books read in front of a community, rather than leaving them as a merely individual experience, is an integral part of academic development. The gathering on December 26, 2025 was a successful example reflecting the profile of a "youth that discusses and produces," one of the cornerstones of university culture.
At the end of the program, the session, which brought together works from different disciplines, concluded with a group photo. Carried out under the Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports (HCS), this high-quality cultural activity once again affirmed Üsküdar University’s vision of raising its students as well-equipped individuals not only professionally but also intellectually.
