The seminar organized by the Positive Psychology Club addressed the role of the EMDR approach in the process of trauma and psychological stabilization.
The seminar “A Look from the EMDR Perspective: Trauma and Stabilization,” organized by the Üsküdar University Positive Psychology Club, was held on March 13, 2026, in the Duha Beker Hall. At the event, attended by students interested in psychology, the effects of the EMDR approach on trauma processes and its role in psychological stabilization were discussed.
Specialist Psychologist Sümeyye Balcı, who attended the event as a speaker, shared with students the basic principles of the EMDR method and its uses in trauma-focused therapy. Throughout the program, comprehensive information was provided, particularly on the effects of traumatic experiences on the individual and the approaches used in the psychological healing process.
During the seminar, it was explained how the EMDR method can play a supportive role not only in post-traumatic processes but also in areas such as anxiety, stress, and emotional stabilization. Participants had the opportunity to take a closer look at the effects of the methods used in therapy on an individual’s psychological resilience.
The event also addressed the effects of trauma on an individual’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, while emphasizing the importance of a safe approach in psychological support processes. Presentations supported by real-life examples and professional experience helped students understand the subject more clearly.
The seminar, attended by approximately 25 students, continued interactively with a Q&A session. Participants had the opportunity to gain more comprehensive knowledge of the field by asking questions about the EMDR approach, trauma processes, and psychological support methods.
The event held by the Positive Psychology Club was one of the productive events that helped students gain awareness of psychological counseling and therapy approaches.
