An Inspiring Talk for Young Translators from the Üsküdar Translation Club

With its online talk titled Young Translators Series: Translation and Volunteering in Sports, held on December 27, 2025, the Üsküdar University Translation Club brought together students aiming for a career in translation in an experience-based gathering. The talk focused on how volunteering in a specialized field such as sports translation contributes to professional development.

The event’s speaker, Burak Can Cantürk, drawing on his experiences in the organizations and sports clubs he was involved with throughout his university years, spoke candidly about how one can take an active role in the industry. Highlighting the importance of volunteer work in professional networking, Cantürk offered aspiring young translators advice on the points they should pay attention to in their career journeys.

Throughout the talk, participants gained a comprehensive perspective not only on translation practice but also on taking responsibility, working across disciplines and the impact of field experience on professional identity. Proceeding interactively with a Q&A session, the event allowed students to get direct answers to their questions.

Held by the Üsküdar Translation Club in cooperation with the Young Future Association and the Beykent University Translation Club, this talk concluded as an inspiring and guiding gathering for aspiring young translators.
