Be the Leader of Your Own Story: "Self-Leadership" Through Creative Drama
In the "Self-Leadership 2" training organized by the Industry and Leadership Club, students embarked on an inner journey into priority management and self-discipline using creative drama techniques.
The Üsküdar University Industry and Leadership Club held the second installment of its training series, which combines personal development with a vision of leadership. Held at the Kuleli Hall of the Main Campus, the "Self-Leadership 2" event, led by Aslıhan Çakır Canbesler, Drama & Life Skills Trainer at Sky Business, offered students practical methods for taking control of their lives.
Moving beyond traditional lecture methods, the training was based on "creative drama" techniques. Through role-plays and interactive games, participants had the chance to experience firsthand what their personal priorities are and how to manage them under complex circumstances. Aslıhan Çakır Canbesler emphasized that leadership begins with individuals understanding their own inner processes before managing the outside world.
One of the most striking parts of the event was the reflection on "being late" and "time management." Through drama scenes, participants explored where they had been late in their past experiences, the emotions this evoked in them, and how they coped with the problem afterward. This awareness exercise enabled students to reassess their attitudes toward time and stress management.
In the highly energetic session attended by approximately 70 students, the active involvement of participants increased the effectiveness of the training. In the workshop, where individual performances and group dynamics took center stage, each participant gathered insights into their own leadership style. Notable for its interactive structure, the training became a platform where academic knowledge blended with life skills.
At the end of the program, having successfully completed the second session of the series, students expressed that they had made significant gains on the path to leading themselves. Officials of the Industry and Leadership Club stated that they will continue similar training series so that students, as they prepare for professional life, are equipped not only with technical knowledge but also with strong character and self-awareness.
