Bonds of the Heart Renewed on the Bosphorus: A Meaningful Iftar Gathering by the Youth Club
With its "Youth Iftar on the Bosphorus" held on the evening of Tuesday, March 19, the Üsküdar University Youth Club brought hundreds of students and dignitaries together aboard the Valide Sultan ship. Held under the guidance of the Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports (HCS), the event became one of the most memorable gatherings in campus history, with a communication network reaching tens of thousands of people and a record number of applications.
The Youth Club, one of Üsküdar University’s most dynamic societies, organized yet another exemplary event in line with its mission of social responsibility and keeping traditional values alive. Thanks to the club’s effective communication, the iftar program held on Tuesday, March 19 drew great interest from the moment it was announced.
The program, carried out in partnership with Üsküdar Municipality, was attended by Üsküdar Deputy Mayor Mithat Özdemir, Head of the HCS Directorate Sadık PAKSOY, academics and 255 students. In the program, which opened with a recitation of the Holy Quran, students enjoyed breaking their fast together at the same table against the unique view of the Bosphorus.
"United in the Same Heart"
Speaking at the opening of the program, Youth Club Founding President Faruk Dündar said that the young people’s keen interest in this spiritual atmosphere was encouraging, and continued:
"Ramadan is not just about meeting at a table; it is about uniting in the same heart. Today we have achieved this unity here with 255 of our friends, but we know that our hearts are one with the thousands of friends who applied. The sincere interest of our young people in this spiritual atmosphere, the exemplary conduct they display and their spirit of togetherness make us proud. I thank each of my friends who crown their university life not only with classes but also with gatherings of the heart like this one."
Taking the floor next, Üsküdar Deputy Mayor Mithat Özdemir conveyed Mayor Sinem Dedetaş’s special message and greetings to the young people and highlighted the importance of social projects between local government and the university.
Time for a Heart-to-Heart on the Bosphorus
In the conversation session that continued on the ship’s deck after iftar, students had the opportunity both to bond with one another and to chat directly with representatives of the university and local government. Carrying the sharing spirit of Ramadan beyond the boundaries of campus, this event once again showcased the club’s organizational competence and student-centered approach.
Youth Club officials stated that the thousands of applications placed a great responsibility on them and that such high-quality gatherings will continue and grow. Coordinated under the Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports (HCS), this meaningful evening once again affirmed the strength of the social opportunities and institutional partnerships Üsküdar University offers its students.
