Designing the Future with the Sociology Club: “Build Yourself” Workshop
As part of its "Vision Board Workshop" event, the Üsküdar University Sociology Club brought students together for an enjoyable workshop on visualizing their goals for 2026 and building their individual identities.
The Üsküdar University Sociology Club held an original workshop titled "Build Yourself" to help students set their individual goals and give concrete form to their visions for the future. At the event held on December 17, 2025, the individual’s position in society and the process of shaping one’s own future were addressed from a sociological perspective through a creative "Vision Board" (Dream Board) activity.
At the workshop, hosted by Nevada Cafe Çarşı and organized with partner support, participants mapped out their academic, social and personal expectations for 2026. Starting from the concept of "the construction of the individual," one of the core topics of sociology, the event enabled students not only to dream but also to gain planning skills by turning these dreams into concrete goals.
During the workshop, students designed their own maps of the future using magazine clippings, colorful images and motivational notes. Proceeding interactively with 17 students in attendance, the workshop laid the groundwork for young people to move away from anxiety about the future, focus on their goals and exchange ideas with their peers along the way. Held in a social setting, this gathering also showed the positive effect of using off-campus venues on the club’s energy.
While the event featured no keynote speaker, the interaction among club members and the collective creative process took center stage. With the boards they prepared, participants created visual reminders of the goals they set for 2026, while also gaining awareness of self-discipline and motivation management.
Sociology Club officials stated that such activities focused on "self-discovery and self-building" contribute to students’ social and intellectual development. The colorful boards produced at the end of the event and the shared goals reflected the multifaceted development opportunities that Üsküdar University offers its students.
