History Club's "Conflicting Imperial Visions" Conference

On December 2, 2024, Üsküdar University History Club organized a conference titled "Conflicting Imperial Visions: The Islamic Intelligentsia and Ottoman Constitutionalism 1908-1913", which delved deep into the historical period. The conference, held at Farabi Hall on the South Campus, offered an inspiring and instructive experience for history lovers.

Interaction between the Ottoman and Islamic Intelligentsia

The conference was an important presentation examining the social and political structure of the Ottoman Empire between 1908 and 1913. Dr. Hüseyin Kurt provided in-depth insights into the political thoughts and intellectual currents during this period, with a detailed discussion of the relationship between the Islamic intelligentsia and Ottoman constitutionalism. Through Dr. Kurt's narration, the participants had the opportunity to get a better understanding of how the reform movements and intellectual thought in the Ottoman Empire influenced each other.

A Successful and Academic Conference

The participants showed great interest in Dr. Hüseyin Kurt's academic and professional presentation throughout the conference. During the presentation, the participants were able to share their questions and learn more about the processes of change in the Ottoman Empire and the paths taken by Islamic currents of thought. The event took place efficiently with a small but in-depth group.

History Club's Contribution to Education and Awareness

In addition to academic studies, the History Club will continue its activities to raise awareness on historical issues. The event equipped students with historical awareness and enabled them to get to know the modernization efforts of the Ottoman Empire more closely.
