Meeting the Language of the Past: Ottoman Turkish Reading and Translation Workshop-I
The Ottoman Turkish Reading and Translation Workshop organized by the Ü.Ü. History and Culture Club introduced participants to Ottoman Turkish texts, inviting them to discover the language of the past and gain hands-on translation experience through the texts.

The Ottoman Turkish Reading and Translation Workshop, the first session of which the Üsküdar University History and Culture Club held on December 20, 2025, offered students interested in Ottoman Turkish a learning environment that was both instructive and focused. In the online workshop, participants worked on reading and interpreting selected Ottoman Turkish texts.
Throughout the event, students examined the word structure and linguistic features of Ottoman Turkish through texts and gained hands-on experience of rendering historical documents into modern Turkish. Through the translation exercises, the aim was to develop both participants’ linguistic awareness and their text analysis skills.
Building a linguistic bridge from the past to the present, the Ottoman Turkish Reading and Translation Workshop was successfully completed as a high-quality educational activity for students interested in history and culture.
