Self-Awareness, the First Step of Leadership: "Self-Leadership" with the Industry and Leadership Club
With its "Self-Leadership 1" event, the Üsküdar University Industry and Leadership Club took students on a journey of creative drama and self-awareness. In the interactive training led by Drama and Life Skills Trainer Aslıhan Çakır Canbesler, the philosophy that individuals must understand and manage their own inner values before leading others was explored through interactive exercises.
The Kuleli Hall of Üsküdar University's Main Campus hosted the first step of a journey through the concept of leadership, from the individual to the societal level. The "Self-Leadership 1" training organized by the Industry and Leadership Club aimed to give students an inner awareness that goes beyond classical leadership theories. Conducted under the guidance of Aslıhan Çakır Canbesler, Drama & Life Skills Trainer at Sky Business, the program attracted great interest from participants.
The training was built on the theory that "in order to lead others, a person must first be the leader of their own life." In the session, which made active use of creative drama techniques, students did not remain mere listeners but became part of the process. Through gamified scenarios and hands-on exercises, leadership qualities moved beyond theoretical explanation and became concrete experiences.
Throughout the training, participants took part in various tests and activities aimed at discovering their personal values. Especially at the stage of identifying their "non-negotiable" values, each student had the opportunity to reflect deeply on their own character. The "character colors" analyzed based on the answers given during this process served as a guide to help students better understand both themselves and the people around them.
Attended by 70 students, this first session concluded in a dynamic atmosphere thanks to its interactive structure. Far from the classic conference format, the lively and participant-focused training helped students develop their problem-solving, communication and empathy skills. In this first phase of their leadership journey, club members and students made significant progress toward self-discovery.
Stating that they had thoroughly enjoyed completing the first session of the series, the Industry and Leadership Club signaled that the "Self-Leadership" series will continue. The role of such personal development trainings, which will make a difference in social life as well as professional life, in enhancing the skills of Üsküdar University students was emphasized once again. The program concluded with thanks extended to trainer Aslıhan Çakır Canbesler.
