Accompanied by Dr. Dicle Kaya, the Üsküdar University History and Culture Club explored the Epic of Gilgamesh, discussing Mesopotamian culture, the quest for immortality and the epic’s influence on contemporary literature.
On January 5, 2026, the Üsküdar University History and Culture Club held a cultural event titled “Digital and Physical History Talks - Epics of the Ancient World: The Epic of Gilgamesh” in Classroom No. 06 on Floor -1 of Block E at the South Campus. 7 students attended the event.

Guided by Dr. Dicle Kaya, the program examined in detail the Epic of Gilgamesh, the oldest known written epic in human history. Together with the participants, the epic’s influence on Mesopotamian culture, the theme of the quest for immortality and its place in Sumerian-Akkadian mythology were discussed.
Throughout the talk, the epic’s contributions to contemporary literature, historiography and cultural heritage were discussed. Students participated actively by asking Dr. Kaya about the details they were curious about during the Q&A sessions. The event offered an interactive and informative experience for those interested in ancient literature and history.

The History and Culture Club aims to continue its events that develop participants’ historical consciousness and increase cultural awareness.
