The training organized by the First Touch to a Miracle Club addressed the historical development, areas of use, and clinical experiences of the öreke used in childbirth.
The “Use of the Öreke in Childbirth” training, organized by the Üsküdar University First Touch to a Miracle Club, was held on March 3, 2026, at the El-Razi Conference Hall at the Health Campus. At the event, which attracted great interest from students, the areas of use of the öreke, one of the traditional supportive materials used in childbirth, and its effects on labor were discussed.
Specialist Midwife Rabia Zuhal Kesen, who attended the event as a speaker, shared comprehensive information with participants about the role of the öreke in childbirth, how it is used, and its historical development. As examples of practices actively used at Tuzla State Hospital were presented, students had the opportunity to gain valuable insights based on clinical experience.
Throughout the program, assessments were made on methods that support maternal comfort during childbirth, the place of traditional practices in modern approaches to childbirth, and the importance of midwife support. Participants had the opportunity to examine more closely the purposes for which the öreke is used during childbirth and its supportive effects on the mother.
One of the highlights of the event was the hands-on demonstration. Showing participants how the öreke is used and giving them the chance to try it made the event more interactive and memorable. Students stated that supporting theoretical knowledge with practice made a significant contribution to the learning process.
The event, attended by approximately 90 students, continued interactively with a Q&A session. Participants had the opportunity to gain more comprehensive knowledge of the field by asking questions about the childbirth process, traditional supportive methods, and clinical practices.
At the end of the event, students stated that hands-on training was highly beneficial for their professional development and gave positive feedback calling for more such events.
The training held by the First Touch to a Miracle Club was one of the remarkable events that increased students’ awareness of childbirth processes and supported theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience.
