3rd Molecular Biology and Genetics Days Congress was held

On May 20-21, 2023, Üsküdar University Molecular Biology and Genetics (ÜÜGEN) Club, affiliated to the Department of Health, Culture and Sports, held the 3rd MBG Days Congress.

On May 20-21, 2023, Üsküdar University Molecular Biology and Genetics (ÜÜGEN) Club, affiliated to Üsküdar University Health, Culture and Sports Department, held the 3rd MBG Days Congress. The congress, organized by Üsküdar University Molecular Biology and Genetics Club (ÜÜGENKlub) at the Central Campus A Block Nermin Tarhan Conference Hall with the participation of 150 people, was held with the presentations of 14 different academicians specialized in their fields. The opening speech of the 2-day congress was made by Üsküdar University Vice Rector and Advisor of Molecular Biology and Genetics Club Prof. Dr. Muhsin Konuk. Then, Marmara University Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nihal Şehkar Oktay made a presentation titled "Cellular Oxidative Stress". At 11.10, Kadir Has University Dr. Lecturer. Prof. Dr. Nuray Söğünmez Erdoğan, Kadir Has University, presented "Cell Puzzles: Ways of Mapping the Mammalian Brain with Transcriptomic Approaches". At 11.50, Prof. Dr. Aslı Tolun from Istanbul Technical University presented "Genetic Research in Humans". After the break, the conference continued with the presentation "Protein Oxidation and Its Effects on Human Health" by Prof. Dr. Emine Şeküre Nazlı Arda from Istanbul University. At 14:10, Üsküdar University Prof. Dr. Sevim Işık presented her study titled "Stem Cell and Exosome Applications in the Treatment of Neurodegenerative Diseases". Afterwards, Yeditepe University Dr. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Çimen presented his study titled "Cancer Metabolism and Mass Spectrometry - Proteomics" at the congress. The first day of the program ended with Istanbul University Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurcan Orhan presenting her work titled "Traumatic Brain Injury Research".

The second day of the event started at 10:00 a.m. with the presentation of Marmara University Dr. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Beste Tacal Aslan's presentation titled "The Effect of Gene Variants on Human Health" started at 10.00 am. The conference was followed by Marmara - Üsküdar University Prof. Dr. Korkut Ulucan's "Current Genetic Parameters Guiding Our Lives", Acıbadem University Prof. Dr. Ali Osmay Güre's "Our Priority Target Should Be Inflammation", Biruni University Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdulilah Ece, Biruni University Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdulilah Ece on "Computer Aided Drug Design in Multidisciplinary Studies from Biology to Chemistry, from Chemistry to Medicine", Istanbul University Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cüneyt Uçarlı on "Current Genome Editing Applications to Create Stress Tolerance in Plants", Marmara University Geno.mad MA students Özlem Özge Yılmaz and Tolga Polat made their presentations. The program ended with the presentation of Yeditepe University Assoc. Prof. Ali Özhan Aytekin on "Bacterial Cellulose Production and Modification of Fiber Properties".

At the end of the 3rd MBG Congress, the club members stated that the Molecular Biology and Genetics Department's fields of Cancer, Neuroscience, Microbiology, Genetics, Epigenetics, Plant and Immunology were discussed in a wide scope and that they aimed to encourage science by bringing together expert academicians and students.
