Forensic sciences is an academic discipline that focuses on the identification of the crime and the criminal as a result of the examination and evaluation of the material evidence obtained from the crime scene and the victim in the laboratory environment. Forensic sciences include all branches of science that will contribute to the improvement and promotion of justice services. During the training, students are comprehensively taught how to analyze evidence and how to present this evidence in court.
The early detection and prevention of all kinds of crimes is directly related to qualified manpower and the correct analysis of the evidence collected. For this reason, students are provided with theoretical training as well as practical applications in the field to adopt an up-to-date approach to the effects of technology on evidence. How many years is the Department of Forensic Sciences?
Forensic sciences is an undergraduate program with a 4-year education period. This department, which takes the numerical score type, is located within the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences. Students receive a comprehensive education in both theory and practice for four years. Students are required to complete 240 ECTS in order to graduate from forensic sciences.

In addition to theoretical and practical education, the Department of Forensic Sciences offers students the opportunity to specialize in different branches of forensic sciences with its wide range of elective courses. During the undergraduate period, students are offered courses such as Introduction to Forensic Sciences, Criminalistics, Crime Scene Investigation, Drugs and Crime, Expert Witnessing and Ethics, Criminology and Viktimology, Statistics in Forensic Sciences, Terminal Ballistics, Interview and Interrogation Techniques, General Principles of Constitutional Law, Forensic Genetics, Instrumental Analysis, Data Security, Forensic Document Examination, Neglect and Abuse of Children, Elderly and Animals.

Students who graduate from the forensic sciences undergraduate program have a comprehensive working area in public / private institutions and organizations. Students; Narcotics Branch Directorate, Ministry of Interior, Criminal Police Laboratory, Ministry of Justice, Anti-Cybercrime Branch Directorate, Crime Scene Investigation and Identification Branch Directorate, Public Health Laboratory and Bar Associated Lawyers can be employed as Forensic Scientists.
What are the Requirements for Studying Forensic Science?
In order to study in the forensic sciences undergraduate program, students must take the TYT and AYT exams and make a sufficient ranking. Those who want to study in this department, which takes with the numerical score type, must be successful in mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology courses. There is a comprehensive education program in which the theoretical knowledge will be put into practice.
