On Wednesday, May 24, 2023, the Interculturel Club of Üsküdar University Health, Culture and Sports Department held an Egyptian Coffee Break Event.
In the event organized by international students to share their tea/coffee cultures with other students and increase interaction between students, Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Dr. Nazife GÜNGÖR was the invited speaker. The event took place face to face in the Central Campus A Block Foyer Area and 50 people attended the event. In the Egyptian Coffee Break event, Egyptian students introduced Egyptian beverages and Egyptian culture. Stating that there are mostly cold drinks due to the climate of Egypt, our Egyptian students presented the drinks they prepared with their own hands;
The first was a drink made from jujube, the second was Sobia, a drink similar to rice pudding, with a more liquid consistency, made from coconut milk, rice and a little water. The third was a drink made from tamarind, while the fourth and final drink was Hibiskus, a cold drink made from a plant we know in Turkish as Ebegümeci.
Students not only tasted the most famous drinks, but also had the opportunity to learn more about Egyptian culture. Some students asked questions about Ancient Egypt and the Pharaohs.
