Embracing Mevlana and Trip to Konya

Since it is 'Mevlana Year' in 2023 International students of our university, students of Türkçe Konuşma Kulübü visited Mevlana's birthplace, Konya, in order to understand Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi, his teachings and to get to know the culture he lived in

Iranian students, who also study Turkish language in TÖMER, had the opportunity to read Mevlana's works in the language he wrote himself and they also translated the writings to other students.

Among the places that the students visited are Sille Ancient City, Hagia Eleni Church, Butterfly Valley and Çatalhöyük, where is the first settlement dating back to 9 thousand years ago.

While the president of Türkçe Konuşma Kulübü Abdulkhalek Edres said ‘I was very impressed when i saw the Tomb of Mevlana in Mevlana Cultural Center, where Mevlana's belongings, clothes and works are exhibited.‘

The students who participateed the trip stated that they are very happy to get to know the culture of Turkey and to visit the city of Konya, and this kind of excursions outside the city improve student interaction.

Also, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan's Love Therapy and Mesnevi Therapy books were given to the students as a present at the end of the journey.
