What is Effective Communication? Why is it Important?
The phenomenon of creating a response by being affected by the changes in society is a talent unique to human beings. Language is transmitted not through inheritance but through learning in society.
The individual becomes a social being by communicating in order to sustain the existence of the environment in which he/she lives. It is possible to make communication effective by reflecting the feelings, thoughts and wishes to be conveyed to the receiving party within the framework of certain rules.
What is Communication?
Communication is the verbal, non-verbal, written or unwritten exchange of ideas, feelings and thoughts against the phenomena occurring in the outside world, starting with the existence of human beings from the mother's womb. The Turkish Language Association (TDK) defines communication as the communication of information, feelings or thoughts to other people using different ways.
What is Communication Ethics?
Communication ethics is defined as the basic criterion for the moral evaluation of human behavior in resolving disputes or solving existing problems in interpersonal relationships. When addressing the concept of ethics in communication, care should be taken to ensure that the established relationships are transparent and discursive.
In the current conditions, in a social order where human relations are based on ethical foundations, the continuity of behaviors and attitudes is only possible through proper communication. In an environment where ethical values or principles lose their effect, a healthy communication environment cannot be formed and the sense of belonging disappears in the relations between group members.
What is Effective Communication? Why is it Important?
Effective communication is defined as the transmission of the message from the sender to the receiver as clearly and as quickly as possible. The most basic element of communication is that the source of the message conveys its feelings and thoughts through a correct channel. People need to have effective communication skills in order for their verbal and physical skills to gain meaning in the social dimension.
In order to complete the effective communication process, an environment of mutual harmony must be created between the source and the target. The style and attitude of the source while creating the message determines the direction of the feedback to be received. There are seven basic elements of effective communication. These are; sender, receiver, message, channel, medium, feedback and password.
Elements of Effective Communication
1. Sender (Source): The first person or group of people who create the message and initiate the communication process.
2. Recipient (Target): People or groups to whom the message is intended to be delivered.
3. Message:
4. Channel (Medium): The means or method used by the sender to send the message. 5. Context (Environment): The environment in which communication takes place, consisting of communication elements. 6. Feedback:
7. Cipher: The sender creates the message from text, pictures or numbers. Perception is defined as the interpretation and interpretation of the signals generated in the nervous system as a result of stimulation of the sensory organs. It is the process of processing sensory information in the mental process and making it more meaningful. The concept of perception is relative. It varies from individual to individual or from society to society. This shows that perception depends on cultural, physiological and environmental factors. As the individual interacts with his/her environment, the level of perception differs in the face of phenomena. The selectivity created in perception by considering the effects of the outside world shows that communication is parallel to perception. 1. The tone and volume of the voice should be well adjusted. 2. Approach with tolerance and without prejudice. 3. Do not use nicknames in conversation. 4. The message should be organized according to the mental perception ability of the receiver. 5. Make eye contact and focus on the other person. 6. Care should be taken not to interrupt. 7. Be a good listener and empathize. 8. Try to provide feedback.
