What is the Leitner Technique?
Leitner technique, or leitner system, is the repetition of learned information at regular intervals in order to make it permanent in the long term.
Leitner is actually known as the flashcard technique. That is, you have to work as directed by cards that have information on how you should work.
The important point is that the time difference from the moment you learn to the moment you do the first repetition must be less than the next repetition. It covers repetition intervals in a certain order.
How is the Leitner System Built?
To apply the Leitner technique you need to have at least three different boxes. In each of the boxes it should be written which information you need to study or repeat every other day.
In this part of our article we will talk about how the leitner technique is done.
1. Write the information you want to learn first on small notes and put them in box 1.
2. Try to remember this information and transfer the information you remember to box 2. Those you do not remember should remain in box 1.
3. At certain intervals the information is tried to be remembered and each remembered information is moved to the next box. That is, if you remember the information in box 1, move it to box 2, if you remember the information in box 2, move it to box 3.
4. The box boundary is entirely up to you. The important thing is to move every piece of information you remember to the next numbered box and leave the ones you don't remember in box 1. This way you can quickly realize how much you have learned.
The more boxes in the Leitner technique, the less you need to repeat the information in the last box. The information in the first box is recommended to be repeated more often. Learning the information in the first box tells you that you need to repeat it more daily.
What are the Benefits of the Leitner System?
Is the Leitner study techniquereally useful? The answer to this question actually lies in how you study a subject. The important thing is to find the most suitable study method for yourself.
